Nursing homes earn PEAK awards
Secretary Martin Kennedy has announced the 2010 winners of PEAK awards. PEAK stands for Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas nursing homes.
This year's winners are: Bethesda Home, Goessel; Brewster Health Center, Topeka; Evergreen Community of Johnson County, Olathe; Kansas Masonic Homes, Wichita; Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade; and Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Seniors warned of 'doughnut hole' fraud schemes
Kansas Attorney General Steve Six and Secretary of Aging Martin Kennedy are warning Kansas seniors to be aware of a variety of fraud schemes tied to the announcement of the first wave of $250 rebate checks for those who fall in the Medicare “donut hole.”

The Senior Summit was a one day conference hosted by the Kansas Department on Aging and the Kansas Area Agencies on Aging. The summit took place at the Maner Conference Center in Topeka on May 6.
